A week or so ago I was asked by soon to be ISTE president the AWEsome Ms. Holly Jobe to create " a page on the board wiki and/or a word doc with links and descriptions of the tools that would help orient new board members to all the ISTE tools " and I did! Taking the easy way out (this is a very busy time for me!) I curated the info from various ISTE publications, the main ISTE webpage, and used my own graphics wherever possible so that the new ISTE board members would have everything ISTE Social Media on one wikipage. But as the ISTE board wikipage is protected - ya'll can't see it...so I thought I'd re-post it here (with minor changes) so that these great resources can be enjoyed by anyone, not just ISTE board members! ISTE Board of Directors Election Now Open! VOTE & Let your Choice & Voice be Heard! Voting Ends-April 11 I was surprised recently to learn that with over 20,000 ISTE members worldwide only about 10% exert their right to vote for the association leadership. Being voted to the ISTE Board of Directors just last year I take a whole new view on my responsibilities and the honor to represent our membership. You! I am your voice to ISTE! I am in your corner & here to make sure some of the corporate types in the boardroom remember the classroom teacher (and the teacher-librarians) who are actually out there in the trenches! I serve you at your pleasure. If you have a concern, or something you want me to convey to the board - email me! (links on the right of this blog) Baby, I keep it real...cause you know that's how I roll. ISTE board members are regular people from around the world who volunteer their time to speak up for all of us - so that every area (hopefully!) ...

So I just came home from the awesome ISTE Affiliate reception with my friend Brenda Anderson and her hubby...all the states represented baby! Maryland's own Dr. Judy Tomelden was there! I met a lot of awesome people..being on the ISTE board has been amazing and it's only been 3 days! I met the cool (and HOT!) guys from CUE...typical Cali guys - so good looking one was a hot ginger and another one looked like Nate Berkus ...Oh and thanks über cute & cool Mike Lawrence of CUE my other new board memberfor extra tickets! [wink] I met some AWEsome chicks from Wisconsin...newly elected affiliate executive board member (and adorable & smart Media Specialist!) Annette Smith and her Media Specialist friends! I also sat at the international table with ISTE Executive Committee At-large Member & International Representative from Australia Ralph Leonard and a lovely educator from England ...who asked me where all the parties are at ISTE and of course...there are a lot!... ...

Isn't this a face and cartoon you can trust to represent you in the PK-12 for ISTE Board of Directors? I want to thank my good friend, mentor, and Maryland buddy Ms. Brenda Anderson for nominating me for a position on the ISTE Board. At first, I didn't know the etiquette for revealing the person who nominated you - whether it was a secret kinda thing (as in don't blame them! LOL) but then slept on it and realized how silly! ....so Thank YOU dear amazing Brenda for not only believing in me but taking the time and effort to encourage me to step up and try and make a difference. I also want to thank my good friend and mentor Joyce Valenza for supporting me in her award-winning recent Never Ending Search blog. She asked me to write up my goals and my vision for leadership within ISTE. I'm gonna repost that here: I was amazed and honored to be nominated for the board of directors of ISTE. I truly believe it's time for a teacher librarian, library media specialist...
