Since I've changed to the NEW dynamic Blogger template, finding the sidebar with the subscribe,  post archives, and other stuff, has become a little more trixy! So.....Here's a graphic to help! If you would like an email, delivered right to your inbox, whenever I post a new content, please follow these directions. 1. Go to the "front page" of the blog. 2. Scroll down the blog until the "hamburger" 3 lines appear. 3. Click on it & you're there! From here you can subscribe in 3 easy ways! Follow by Email - just type in your name in the top box. Now, here's where I admit I'm a doofus. I don't know why this widget shows typing or text show up as white on white background. Nor, do I understand why the subscribe by email button below doesn't show up until you hover over it. I've got a help request submitted to Blogger, but in the meantime, just copy and paste your email address in the top box and click below,...

My Blogs are Blocked-Life is Not Filtered

Image
Posted on Blogger Help forums: Could Blogger re-consider allowing nudity & sexual content? My school library blog is now blocked in my district. I am a librarian, I believe in free speech, & I am against censorship. However, My school district just blocked Blogger for EVERYone because Blogger allows Nudity & Sexual content. I've had my Daring School Library blog for 5+ years - It's a conversation between my students, community, and the world about our library program & practice. We highlight student achievements, new books, web 2.0 tools, QR codes, and the cool things we do in our awesome school. This blog you're reading...I didn't start this until I got inspired after NECC09 - my MHMS school library blog is my first love my oldest child! YouTube blocks nudity & sexual content, why not Blogger? If Blogger just took the same tact "YouTube is not for pornography or sexually explicit content. If this describes your video, even if it'...

Adding Blogger Gadgets & Customizing Headers

Image
I get really excited when, after I give a keynote or do a preso at a conference, people from those events contact me later with questions about new things they are trying that is making them feel that awkward growing feeling! Much like I felt a few weeks ago with creating my first Wikipedia page .... Several of these wonderful educators are trying to create new blogs and Twittering for the first time! A very close friend of mine (we went to grad school together - hey Kathy Glascock !) asked me for design help with her blog header another friend (not new to blogging) asked for design help with his blog header (Hey Chad Lehman!) Oh and I gotta say sorry... I'm not avail to make any more custom blog headers unless you throw tons of cash my way because I'm really busy now and I'd REEELY like an iPad! LOL So a lovely lady I met when I was the keynote at CASL - Robin Stiles emailed me last week and asked the following questions: "Ok, question for you...or maybe a couple. H...

Social Media Dim Sum: Tasty Bites You Can Try

Image
Social Media Dim Sum: One Small Plate at a Time I love my PLN! When I have an idea I am struggling with I can go to them and ask for opinions, brainstorming, & help and - I get it! Here was my idea: a graphic that showed the tastiest bits of a PLN all in one place setting...with a side dish of other ways to build your PLN that were a bit more....ummm challenging. The main plate features those parts of my Personal Learning Network that are the most significant to me: Twitter , Flickr , Google (Gmail & Google apps) Nings ( Classroom 2.0 , Teacher Librarian Ning , MSET , ISTE Community ) Wikispaces and Sqworl . In the side of the bowl and just as important the Discovery Education Network . The side bowl features parts of a PLN that are significant, but that take more effort & time commitment: Second Life & Blogging. I'd like to reassure those new to network building that they need not try the virtual worlds of Second Life and blogging right away but can a...
