Image
Ever wonder where your Tweets are going? How many Favourites, Re-Tweets, & Replies? Well, Twitter analytics is here to help! View graphic in full size Do they really matter? Nope! Like the number of followers, it's really not about quantity as it is about quality. The quality of the conversations you're having on Twitter. How much are you are sharing, helping, listening, & asking? Are you participating in some Twitter Chats? Are you helping newbies?  Are you contributing to our EPIC PLN? If not, c'mon! We're waiting for you! But if you're really not ready that's OK, too! Keep lurking, listening, & RT-ing!  I try and never give out any social media guilt trips. We're here for you when you're ready to talk on Twitter :-) Hope this infographic helps! Your thoughts are always eagerly welcomed in the comments! Give me a break from the spammers, please! LOL Cheers! ~Gwyneth

Lady Gaga on Twitter, Haters, & Change

Image
I truly find Lady Gaga amazingly inspiring and motivational. She's a mega talented writer and rock star who truly cares for her little monsters, preaches acceptance and tolerance,  & is a powerful agent of change. The full video is embeded at the end of the post - but let's talk about some of the highlights and how they can teach us some important lessons. 1. Be happy to be here Lady Gaga says "I truly believe I have so many followers on Twitter just cause I write nice stuff! ...I don't whine, I don't make fun of anybody. I'm just happy to be here! " When it comes to Twitter, G+, or social media in general - just be happy to be here! Who wants to talk to a Debbie downer at at party, right? I mean, I'm going into the hospital tomorrow to finally replace my busted knee (no skateboarding, parkour, or surfing this season!) but I'm really gonna try NOT to whine, angst, or go on and on about it on Twitter in the next few weeks. My Twitter sh...

How to Easily Archive & Embed Tweets

With Search Hash & Google Apps! The Backstory: Taking our TLVirtual Cafe webinar series and Twitter chat #TLChat one step farther a few months ago we started #TLChat Live! (For some reason I always have to type the word LIVE! and Science! with an exclamation - don't judge.) Spearheaded by Joyce Valenza, Nikki Robertson, and a core group of or TL Geek Tribe (volunteer moderators listed on our TLChat Live! front Wikispaces page! Add your name to the list! ) we were so jazzed to get this ball rolling! We meet the 2nd Mondays of the month at 8pm Eastern time , we chat for an hour on a crowdsourced topic , share ideas, grow our PLN, make new connections, and enjoy each others company! It's grand! Our first Live! discussion hour was on September 17th and thanks to Library Girl Jennifer LaGarde we have a cool infographic created with Easel.ly to share about it! Wow! Pretty outstanding, right? The Archive from the chat is embedded on our wikipage . (come right back I w...

Twitter Style Book Review Lesson

Image
Sweet Tweets About Good Reads Here's an idea for a fun tech-social-media infused creative writing lesson and one I'll be sure to mention when I'm guest hosting the Twitter #EngChat event May 23rd at 7pm EST . The topic will be The Power of the Product and I'll be hosting with amazing MHMS co-worker Elizabeth Singleton ( @emsingleton ). This conversation will consist of viable, creative, meaningful, and daring products that demonstrate information mastery, go beyond the regular research report and span the digital divide. On this second blog posting in one day (assuredly a first!) I must give a very special thank you to reading specialist & MHMS co-worker Deb Burkey! You inspired & gave me this idea during our conversation the other day talking about the Fakebook lesson. YAY, you rock! The text is written as directions to students. Writing a short, concise, quality book review is a challenge! Using the Twitter style, create a short book review that hint...
