Lustworthy Fonts Made of Win!

Image
Lustworthy Fonts I've made no secret that I have a great love for graphic design, fonts, and the FREE site PicMonkey ; which makes even the novice dabbler feel like their creations are Made of WIN! As Joyce Valenza said in a recent blog post "my love for PicMonkey, in general, is so great that a premium subscription is critical!" But you don't have to have a Royale subscription (but it's worth it!)  to get lustworthy fonts, see!? Here are 10 FREE fonts that are super cool! And here are 10 Royale fonts that are nom nom delicious! You can also find some of these fonts on Dafont and 1001 Free Fonts ! How do you find them to download them to your lappie? Just Google the name of the font + FREE + MAC (or Win)  - and Bazinga! Lustworthy Fonts! Design With Style  & Pimp Up Your Blog Posts The coolest new thing they offer is the ability to create from a blank canvas and a new design feature where there are pre-set sizes! Even a Facebook Cover [wr...

A Library In Every Pocket: Virtualizing Your Library for Mobile Learning

Image
Not if, but when your school turns to mobile learning, will your library be ready? Information technology presents librarians with an opportunity to facilitate the transition to mobile learning. Facilitators, which will include a student panel, in this hands-on, BYOT session will highlight strategies to virtualize library services for tiny screens. Participants will practice using tools for building virtual, hand-held libraries, and will leave this session with a toolkit to expand virtual library services. I'm both happy and sad to say that our Pre-Conference workshop at #AASL13 ( American Association of School Librarians ) is S OLD OUT! W00t! Sad because I feel in a way this blog post is a tease, 'cause if you're not already booked it's too late but happy because that's always the worry that no one will show up! Three years ago I blogged about this topic , but WOW...how things have changed since then! We can't wait to share some new ideas ...

The BIG MentorMob Playlist of Curation Tools

Image
I think I've mentioned before in a previous blog post called MentorMob & the Secrets of the Remix Mash-Up YouTube Generation   that I came to MentorMob about a year after hearing of it from the amazing Dr. Joyce Valenza . I mention it only again because I don't want *anyone* to feel self-induced "tech guilt" for not trying a new tool right away! Sometimes you need to muse, meditate, and contemplate something new before jumping in with both feet. Sometimes you're just too darn busy!  LOL  Either way, however you get to a new tool, talent, or challenge - do it when YOU are ready! Long story medium, I am SO glad I did finally play with and master MentorMob last fall & it was so easy and the learning curve so gentle I felt I "had it" in less than an hour! UPDATE: Follow MentorMobEDU for all the latest education features & to connect with other Playlisters! Much different than the Learning Curve of 3 weeks for Second Life, 3 days for...

Digital Curation & Sweet Scoopage

Image
Hi! My name is Gwyneth and I am NOT an expert at Digital Curation. But I'm learning! I joined Scoop.it! when it first came out, but it didn't "get it" and fall in love with it until I saw it in action this summer in Australia  with Joyce Valenza! (I know, pinch me, right?)   I recently found out I could customize each topic and make it look purty. There are many other curation tools like Diigo ,  Pinterest , and Storify but this posting is going to focus on my new favourite - the gorgeous Scoopit!  It's like Pinterest but on steroids! It sorta has the look of it, but has SO many more features! Scoopit does triple duty with one smart bookmarklet. 1. Collect Scoopit collects, saves, and organizes your digital discoveries or websites you want to share and explore later. Blog posts you want to read or pass onto someone else. Resources you're trying to gather for professional development or research units! Don't want to troll the Internet to f...

Edublog Opining, Mentoring, & Haters

Image
Ain't it grand? Freedom of speech, blogs... opinions? The ability to mouth off & share? Buckle up dear readers, this is a wordy one...I'm gonna opine! Whether one person or one thousand reads it - I think very fact that we can publish to the WORLD freely our thoughts & ideas without license or permission... THAT my dear friends is a true definition of Web 2.0h,  the read write web. And I reckon, THIS is what we should be celebrating not hating on the nomination & voting process of Edublog Awards OR #Eddies12 ! I've gotta say being recognized for what ya do feels grand. It would be a load of BS to say otherwise, right? And though being included as a finalist after being nominated by your peers is heady stuff - it's the very fact that WE CAN EFFIN WRITE whatever the hell heck we want to write is the real winner. For a matter of fact the Edublogs is quite democratic & anyone, anywhere in the world can nominate any blog! It's not an American aw...
